On October 18, 2026, CUEB is to celebrate the 70th anniversary of its founding. We extend our sincere thanks to leaders at all levels, friends from all sectors, alumni at home and abroad, and all faculty, students, and staff for their longstanding support.

Founded in 1956 through the merger of the former Beijing College of Economics and the former Beijing Institute of Finance and Trade, CUEB has stayed true to its motto—“advocating morality, valuing competence, strategizing national development, and serving the people.” In its early years, Party and state leaders—Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Liu Shaoqi, Zhu De, Deng Xiaoping, Chen Yun—received CUEB faculty and students in Zhongnanhai twice within one year, leaving enduring memories in our university history. Over seven decades, CUEB has advanced in step with national development, committed to education and public service.

Built on 70 years of growth, CUEB has formed a distinctive and advantageous disciplinary system. It has five first-level disciplines authorized for the doctoral programs, one professional doctoral program, and four post doctorate research stations; several disciplines rank among leading finance-and-economics (F&E) universities. Nearly 200,000 graduates have contributed to economic and social development. CUEB continues to deepen work in urban governance, digital economy, and sustainable development, actively serving national strategies and strengthening its think-tank influence.

Guided by the blueprint adopted at the 5th Party Congress of CUEB, we will implement a two-step development strategy and advance the following university-wide initiatives: the “Breakthrough” Initiative for disciplinary development; the “Jade-Polishing Initiative” for personnel cultivation; the “Climbing Summit Initiative” for scientific research; the “Leading Goose Initiative” for faculty development; the “Silk Road Initiative” for domestic and international cooperation and exchange; and the “Good Governance Initiative” for management and services. We will make well-conceived plans for the 15th Five-Year Plan and strive to build a first-class research university with global recognition, contributing to building a leading country in education and to the capital development in the new era.

Taking the 70th anniversary as a new starting point, CUEB will, in a solemn yet pragmatic manner, host a series of academic, cultural, and alumni exchange events. We warmly welcome alumni worldwide back to the Alma Mater and cordially invite friends from all sectors to join us.
