Oxford and Cambridge Students Visit CUEB for In-Depth Academic and Cultural Exchanges Between China and the UK
Recently, the School of Labor Economics and the School of International Education of CUEB jointly organized a student exchange program with the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge. With the theme of Exchange, Academia, Culture and Friendship, outstanding young students from the two world-renowned universities gathered at CUEB to engage in academic seminars, cultural experiences and friendly interactions. The event has built a solid bridge for mutual learning among young students, and for deeper inter-university exchanges and emotional bonds.
After arriving in Beijing and checking into the international student apartments at the Hongmiao Campus, the visiting teachers and students participated in Beijing urban cultural tours, experiencing the historical heritage and modern urban charm of the capital at close range.

On April 7, the exchange program officially kicked off at the main campus. Li Jing, a teacher from the School of Economics, delivered a special academic lecture on China and the World Economy in the New Era. The teachers and students visited the School History Museum to gain a comprehensive understanding of CUEB’s educational history, disciplinary development and internationalization achievements. Liu Yishan from the School of International Education gave a special presentation on traditional Chinese music. The School of Labor Economics and the International College respectively organized intangible cultural heritage experiences and a friendly basketball match.
On April 8, Chen Si from Sports Department led the visiting students in experiencing Chinese martial arts. Zhang Lilong from the School of Labor Economics shared an academic presentation on China’s Social Security Reform. Zhao Lingfei, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department and the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office, and Deputy Dean of the School of International Education, gave a detailed introduction to CUEB’s international student policies, global cooperation network and scholarship system, showcasing the university’s international education standards and achievements. Chinese and British students also held face-to-face exchanges on campus life.


Li Kunpeng, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of CUEB, addressed the closing ceremony, which was presided over by Luo Chuliang, Deputy Party Secretary and Dean of the School of Labor Economics. Li highly commended the outcomes of the exchange program and extended sincere gratitude and best wishes to the delegations from Oxford and Cambridge. Mr. Esteban, head of the visiting delegation, thanked CUEB for the organization and hospitality, and shared his insights into the exchange. The two sides exchanged souvenirs and took group photos. Relevant leaders from the International Cooperation and Exchange Department, International Education and School of Labor Economics attended the ceremony.

Through diverse forms, this event presented the achievements of China’s economic development, social security and the charm of traditional Chinese culture, promoting youth interactions and academic connectivity between CUEB and top global universities. In the future, the School of Labor Economics will continue to build high-level international exchange platforms, enrich channels for exchanges between Chinese and foreign youth, deepen international cooperation, and support mutual learning and joint growth of young people from China and abroad.
