Gathering Global Talents, Pursuing Win-Win Cooperation: CUEB Participates in the 23rd Conference on International Exchange of Professionals
Themed “Gathering Global Talents, Pursuing Win-Win Cooperation”, the 23rd Conference on International Exchange of Professionals (CIEP) was held in Shanghai from October 20 to 22, Co-hosted by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs) and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government. State Councilor Chen Yiqin delivered a speech by video and officially opened the conference. CIEP gathered over 3,000 attendees, including 2,600 foreign experts from 110 countries and regions, representatives from relevant central government departments, universities, and scientific research institutions, local foreign expert affairs departments, and employer representatives. The scale reached a record high.
As one of the key universities invited to the conference, CUEB also invited 60 foreign experts, including 6 important society fellows, such as Professor Wolfgang Karl Haerdle and Professor Robert Reno, deans from many internationally well-known universities, such as Professor Andrei Yurievich Simonov and Professor Jonathan Andrew Batten, as well as over 50 faculty and student representatives from CUEB.

CIEP is China’s largest international platform for professionals. This year’s conference invited 41 well-known universities to host nearly 100 exchange activities of professionals. As one of the important host universities, CUEB successfully held a series of events themed “Dialogue on the Integration and Innovation of Data Science and Technology Finance” and “Retelling Chinese Stories and Discussing International Research”.
Exchange Event: “Dialogue on the Integration and Innovation of Data Science and Technology Finance”
The “Dialogue on the Integration and Innovation of Data Science and Technology Finance” event was jointly organized by the School of Statistics and Date Science, School of Finance, School of Labor Economics, School of International Economics and Management, School of Economics, Institute of Beijing Digital Economy Research and the 111 Plan “Innovation and Talent Base for Fin-Tech and Financial Econometrics”. Yin Zhichao, member of the Party Committee Standing Committee, Vice President of CUEB, and Head of “111 Plan” attended and delivered a speech. Nine foreign experts from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Singapore and other countries presented reports on a variety of themes, including “Development Trends of Data Intelligence”, “Artificial Intelligence and Economic Governance”, and “Technology Finance Empowering Industrial Innovation”. Leveraging the university’s strengths in data science, financial engineering, statistical modeling, artificial intelligence and other fields, they explored how cutting-edge technologies can empower economic development and social governance. During the event, Yu Jiadong, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and Nie Shengkui, Director of the Department of Foreign Expert Services at the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, visited the venue. They engaged in discussions with Yin Zhichao and the staff, and highly recognized CUEB’s preparation and organization.

Exchange Event: “Retelling Chinese Stories and Discussing International Research”.
The event themed “Retelling Chinese Stories and Discussing International Research” consisted of two thematic sessions: the International Journal Exchange Meeting and the Young Scholars Forum. Co-hosted by the School of Statistics and Data Science and the School of Finance of CUEB, and the “Innovation and Talent Base for Fin-Tech and Financial Econometrics”, the activities were chaired by Professor Susan Sunila Sharma from Deakin University, Australia, featuring in-depth discussions with editorial board members from top international journals in economics and statistics, over a dozen overseas experts, and teachers from CUEB. Participants enthusiastically exchanged views on topics such as “How to Extract Internationally Understandable Theoretical Contributions from China’s Practices” and “How Artificial Intelligence and Behavioral Science Reshape Economic Research Paradigms”, exploring methods and strategies for the international dissemination of Chinese academic achievements.

During CIEP, the foreign experts also visited Midea Global Innovation Park in Qingpu District and Zhujiajiao Ancient Town. The experts marveled at the achievements of China’s technological innovation in driving the rapid economic and social development and were deeply impressed by the traditional Chinese culture. Many experts expressed the hope to deepen cooperation with CUEB, Chinese enterprises and scientific research institutions in the future to jointly promote technological innovation and sustainable development. After the conference, some of the visiting experts will also go to Beijing for further exchanges.
CUEB was honored to participate in this pivotal national diplomatic event, organized by the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange. The event fully demonstrated the university’s comprehensive strength in personnel training, scientific research innovation, and international exchanges. This involvement demonstrated the university’s commitment to the “Silk Road” initiative outlined in the Fifth Party Congress. Through the event, CUEB showcased its sense of responsibility in pursuing the national opening-up strategy and serving the capital’s international exchange and cooperation, and further expanded its influence in the global higher education field.
