ASEAN International Education Cooperation: Member of Party Standing Committee and Vice President Yang Kui Attends Signing Ceremony in Guangxi
On March 28, member of Party Standing Committee and Vice President Yang Kui led a delegation to Guangxi Minzu Normal University to sign the Agreement on Cooperation in International Education Alliance and the China-Vietnam School-Enterprise Quartet Cooperation Agreement (involving Guangxi Minzu Normal University, Thai Nguyen University of Economics and Business Administration, Capital University of Economics and Business, and Nanning Beibu Gulf Talent Golden Port Co., Ltd.). Representatives from governments and universities in ASEAN countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, and Laos, as well as from the Chongzuo municipal government, universities, and enterprises in Guangxi, gathered to discuss the integration of ethnic and international cultural exchanges.
At the signing ceremony, Yang noted that last year, on the first anniversary of President Xi Jinping’s speech on the fifth collective study session of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China, Wang Wenju, CUEB Party Secretary, led a delegation to Guangxi for research. This marked the launch of CUEB’s “Silk Road Journey” special initiative, which aimed to learn from the experiences of Guangxi’s universities in serving local social and economic development, engaging with ASEAN countries by open education policy, and transitioning discipline construction. The visit also sought to explore new pathways for collaboration between Beijing and border universities.
Yang said that over the past year, CUEB has not only expanded its collaboration with Guangxi Minzu Normal University but also established multifaceted partnerships with universities in ASEAN countries, jointly with universities in Guangxi. This has leveraged complementary strengths for win-win outcomes, fostering a high-quality development community among capital universities, border universities, and overseas institutions. Notably, from the perspective of international student training, CUEB has explored a new training model, implementing unified recruitment and categorized training in collaboration with all parties, which has been well-received by students.
Yang noted that Guangxi’s universities are the frontier for ASEAN cooperation. CUEB is ready to leverage this platform to deepen multifaceted cooperation with ASEAN countries in education, scientific research, and other fields. The university will continue to embrace the open education approach and is keen to collaborate with more domestic and international universities. By learning from advanced experiences and broadening the horizons of its faculty and students, CUEB aims to promote high-quality development in international education.
The Khammouane Thakhek Municipal Government of Laos, Thai Nguyen University of Economics and Business Administration, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Pathumthani University, and Rattana Bundit University were among the participants in the above-mentioned activities. Chen Kang, Director of the Network Information Center, and Yu Jia, Deputy Dean of the School of International Education also joined the activities.
