AIT President Ciarán Visits CUEB

On June 25th, President Fu Zhifeng met Ciarán Ó Catháin, President of Athlone Institute of Technology in Boyuan Building, and exchanged on opening more majors and diversifying the mode of joint training programs both for undergraduates and postgraduates of the two universities.

After expressing his warm welcome, President Fu hoped to start new programs like “2+2” joint training program for undergraduates, “3+2” combined bachelor and master’s degree program and joint training program for graduates and doctoral candidates based on the friendship between the two universities and the fruit borne by the exchange program between AIT and the School of Labor Economics of CUEB.

After expressing his pleasure in meeting with President Fu, President Ciarán stated that CUEB was an important partner in Beijing, and 81 undergraduates and postgraduates from the School of Labor Economics has been studying in AIT. While promoting the exchange programs between Irish universities and CUEB, President Ciarán was looking forward to establishing joint training programs in some majors, such as big data analysis, cyber security, certified public accountant, etc.

Meng Jing, Asia Director of International Office of AIT, Xie Haixia, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges of CUEB, and Feng Xiliang, Dean of the School of Labor Economic of CUEB, attended the meeting.

After the meeting, President Ciarán and his delegation visited the School of Labor Economics, and conducted an in-depth discussion on different cooperation modes of joint training programs, including “2+2” and “3+1+1”. The delegation also met the students who were going to AIT for exchange on September.
