On May 6th, “Forge Ahead with My Motherland”, the youth concert marking centenary of May Fourth Movement was staged in Zhuo Yu Lecture Hall, organized by Youth League Committee of CUEB. Party Secretary Feng Pei and deputy Party Secretary Xu Fang attended the activity. Directors of CUEB departments and over 700 League members watched the show. Besides, undergraduates of Class of 2018 were watching the broadcast in their classrooms assisted by publicity department of the Party committee of CUEB, Information Office, and School of Culture and Communication.

The gala, with teachers and students from 16 schools as its performers, focused on three chapters – “Return of Youth & Fight for Revolution” “Passion for Youth & Better Life” “Ambitious Youth, Loyalty for the Party”. The classic TV hits, a thread for the concert, sang for the great revolution, better life and youth of the past generations. The shows are interpretations of contemporary young people’s spirit to cherish the time and strive for their youth.

Feng Pei started the concert with a speech. Feng talked about “six expectations” enunciated by President Xi Jinping on April 30th in his speech commemorating the centenary of the May Fourth Movement. The expectations for Chinese youth in new era include: cherishing lofty dreams, loving your motherland, contributing to the times, forging ahead with courage, being skillful and competent, and cultivating your character. All League members of CUEB should understand and learn the spirit and requirements of the “six expectations” and put them into practice.

Feng Pei gave recognition to the students for their excellent services for China Development Forum and the 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. The students, with youthful vigour, won much praise from the organizer for fulfilling their duties by overcoming every difficulty. Besides, the students actively signed up for the mass parade marking the 70th anniversary of China. They also took an active part in volunteering in the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations, World Horticultural Exhibitions, China Beijing International Fair for Trade in Services and other big events. Participating the activities showed their resolves in contributing to our nation.

Feng Pei expressed his pride for all students. The vibrant and ambitious League members of CUEB act as a powerful troop for the contribution of our country, as well as a promising and responsible generation for the times, said Feng Pei. He was willing to be more friendly, helpful and reliable, as other teachers are, thus giving more support to students’ development.

Feng Pei urged all CUEB students to keep in mind what General Secretary Xi Jinping told us while devoting to the contribution of a great socialist power and realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. They should take over the historic relay baton, make more effort to practice and promote the spirit of May Fourth Movement, that is, being responsible, self-driven and motivated. The youth should begin a new chapter with achievements living up to people of the new era, making their youth more splendid by striving for their motherland, people, nation and all human beings.

At the beginning of the concert, classic song Ode to Motherland was showed by a senior chorus made up of retired teachers.
