On the evening of May 17th, Music Only — the 16th CUEB Singer Contest themed “Singing for the Times & Pursuing the Dreams” was held in Zhuoyu Lecture Hall.

The contest included three rounds–singing with the guests, solo and the top-three plus final king battle. Judges for the final were: Ma Zhengtao, associate professor of vocal music of Beijing Contemporary Music Academy and President of the judging panel for Sing! China (a popular singing program in China) in Zhejiang Province; Voyage Stone, a band participated Season Three of Sing! China and Singing My Song; Wu Yuanyuan, Director of Volunteer Affairs Office under CUEB Youth League Committee; Darren , the runner-up of Jay Chou’s team in Sing! China Season Two; Eldana Elyar, Vice President of the CUEB Student Union.

At the beginning, presidents of the Student Union of university & school-level showed Proud Youth, expressing the blessing and love for our country. As their passionate voice echoed around the Hall, all people were heating up and cheering for the Champion night.

In Round One, the contestants sang with their friends, providing an audio-visual feast for the audience.

Finally, Deng Yigui from the School of Culture and Communication won the champion. Xi Yinghe from the School of Public Finance and Taxation and Fu Shouheng from the International School of Economic Management came in second and third respectively. Chen Ya from the College of Business Administration lucked out to become the Final King.

During the break of the three-hour battle, the audience enjoyed fascinating shows, including dance performance from M-plex club, the latest single Baby I can fly from Darren, and the song Tai Ping Bridge from special guests Voyage Rock. Besides, the lead singer of Voyage Rock, Gao Lei, as alumnus of CUEB and contestant of the first Music Only concert, expressed sincere gratitude to his alma mater and deep blessing to the contest on the platform.
