On May 30th, CUEB President Fu Zhifeng met with the delegation from Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil (CUSG) led by Prof. Lino Toscanini at Boyuan building. The two sides exchanged on further inter-university cooperation.

After extending warm welcome to Toscanini, Fu underscored the university’s basic information and Ecuadorian students in CUEB. He noted that as a participating country of Belt and Road Initiative, Ecuador has always maintained close relationship with China, which paves the path for bilateral educational cooperation. He also hoped that some cooperation programs among teachers and students would be established in the near future as CUEB values global development as well as cooperation with overseas universities.

In an introduction to the situation of Guayaquil in Ecuador, Toscanini highlighted the running condition of CUSG. He said CUSG, as one of the key universities in Ecuador, is committed to providing an open and diversified environment as well as flexible and high-quality resources for students. Plus, this university is seeking for cooperation opportunities. Thus, he sincerely hoped that this visit could serve as a catalyst to boost scientific cooperation programs between the two universities.

Later, Liu Xuexin, President from College of Business Administration, Chen Wei, Deputy President from School of Engineering and Management and Cai Bing, Vice Party Secretary from School of Economics deliberately outlined the disciplines, majors, teaching staff and scientific researches of their schools respectively. Maria Alcivar, President of the Graduate School and Uriel Castillo, Dean of Sociology Department of the Graduate School also introduced their predominate disciplines, cooperation programs and orientation. Further discussion is needed for Memorandum of Cooperation and better cooperation in master’s English courses in international trade and commerce, MBA overseas study tour and jointly published academic book.

Mr. Javier Sanchez, embassy of Ecuador to China, Xie Haixia and Huang Liwei, Director and Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges attended the meeting.
