According to the result released recently by the Challenge Cup Beijing Undergraduate Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Contest, CUEB once again made great achievement by taking home the Honorable Prize and the Best Organization Prize. 14 of the students’ works submitted by CUEB got awarded and 5 of them made it into the defense of the Special Award. Finally, CUEB swept four kinds of prizes including one Special Award, one first prize, seven second prizes and five third prizes. In addition, two works were qualified to the 16th Challenge Cup National Undergraduate Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Contest.

With the help of Academic Affairs Office, Post Graduate School, Scientific Research Office and all schools, an internal selection for the Challenge Cup, which has been highly valued by CUEB leadership, was initiated by the Youth League CUEB Committee in June 2018. The  experts on campus were invited to pick 15 works out of 75 for the municipal-level contest through three rounds of reviews. Before the defense of the Special Award, a rehearsal was held to see the students’ efforts in improving their works, preparing them for the contest.

Calm and confident, the five listed students presented in detail their research to judges in the defense of the Special Award. By showing their ability to integrate what they have learned into practice with most-concerned issues cited, the students gave full play to their  aspiration and determination   in the contest, as is indicated in CUEB’s motto—strategize national development, and serve the people.

Hosted by the Communist Youth League of China, China Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, All-China Students’ Federation and local governments, the Challenge Cup National Undergraduate Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Contest, initiated by renowned universities across China and the press, is a leading national event that is exemplary and participatory. The Challenge Cup has made a positive impact on universities, colleges and beyond, developing a reputation as the “Olympic” of scientific innovation for college students.
