On July 4th, the 2019 Postgraduate Commencement & Degree Conferment Ceremony was held in the gym of CUEB. Party Secretary Feng Pei, President Fu Zhifeng, Deputy Party Secretary Xu Fang, Vice President Ding Lihong and Wang Chuansheng, Party Committee member and Director of Organization Department Yu Zhong, Party Committee member and Director of the United-Front Work Department Xing Qi, alumni representative Chen Yu, 1982 graduate of CUEB and Director of China Institute for Occupation Research, Peking University, attended the ceremony. Retired teacher representatives Liu Junying, Hou Jingping, Qu Gang, Yuan Xiaofang, leaders of all schools, advisors, graduating class supervisors, doctoral and master graduates and their family members attended the ceremony, which was presided over by Wang Chuansheng.

The graduation ceremony kicked off with the majestic national anthem. According to “Decision on the Conferment of Diplomas on Doctoral and Master Graduates by the Degree Evaluation Committee of the Capital University of Economics and Business” announced by Feng Pei, 1,214 graduate students received degrees, including 33 doctoral graduates and 1,181 master graduates.

During the ceremony, Xu Fang made known the list of 2019 Beijing Outstanding Graduates. After rigorous selection and evaluation, 4 doctoral graduates and 53 master graduates in CUEB won the title of Beijing Outstanding Graduates and thus were awarded honorary certificates.

To strengthen the relationship between the university and graduates, CUEB appointed 50 alumni liaisons among 2019 graduate students. Ding Lihong issued a letter of appointment to the 2019 alumni liaison Zhu Zhiqi, graduate of the School of Finance.

Liu Xiaohui, graduate student of the School of Accounting, Zhang Yudong, doctoral candidate of the School of Management Engineering, and Saleumask Khansavanh, Laos student from the School of International Education, made a speech as representatives of the 2019 graduate students. After the speech, Liu Xiaohui, on behalf of all the2019 graduate, presented a scroll shaped “I ❤ CUEB”, consisted of the graduates' fingerprints to the alma mater, expressing their gratitude to CUEB and reluctant feeling to part.

As an advisor, Professor Zhang Shijun from the School of Law told students earnestly that "While the fame and fortune can be dear, integrity and goodness are dearer." In the future, he hoped, the graduates could adhere to the principles and bottom line in both life and work, abiding by the duty and moving ahead with a clear conscience.

As one of the first graduate students in CUEB, Chen Yu, in his speech, first congratulated the 40-year enrollment of postgraduates, and then expressed his nostalgia for and lofty respect to distinguished scholars of CUEB in the old times. 

On behalf of the university, Fu Zhifeng congratulated the students who have received their doctoral and master's diplomas. He told the graduates that in terms of career, they must set high standards and fully exploit their potential; in terms of love, they should talk less and do more, and form a family as soon as possible; in terms of life, they must be serious but not stubborn, and face difficulties with an open mind.

Feng Pei and Fu Zhifeng solemnly helped graduates with doctoral degrees to flip their graduation tassel to the right side, issued degree certificates, and gave them sincere blessing. As four doctoral female graduates took their children to the stage for diplomas, Feng Pei cordially picked up the kids and Fu Zhifeng flipped their tassels, indicating that they are all talents in the future.

After the commencement ceremony, retired teachers Liu Junying, Hou Jingping, Qu Gang and Yuan Xiaofang sang a song "Me and My Motherland" on the 70th birthday of China. The students waved the national flag and sang along passionately, driving the ceremony to its climax.

At last, all schools held degree awarding ceremonies for master graduates respectively.
