President Fu Zhifeng Meets with AIT Delegation

On June 24th, President Fu met with delegation from Athlone Institute of Technology headed by Prof. Ciarán Ó Catháin. Both sides shared ideas on student exchanges, joint cultivation and scientific research collaboration.

After extending warm welcome to President Ciarán, President Fu reviewed long-term partnership between our two universities and expressed appreciation for AIT’s support on CUEB’s student exchange programs. He hoped that both sides could promote student exchange programs in Accounting, Big Data Analysis and Computer Engineering and strengthen scientific research cooperation on big data analysis and electronic commerce.

 

Ciarán said this trip coincides with the 40th anniversary of China-Ireland diplomatic ties, and our bilateral relationship paves the path for our educational cooperation. CUEB has always been an important partner and has worked closely with AIT in student exchanges and joint cultivation programs since the establishment of Inter-university Cooperation Framework Agreement in 2011. In the meantime, he expected that the two universities would deepen cooperation and further develop programs in terms of student exchanges, academic communication and scientific research.   

Later, Feng Xiliang, President of School of Labor Economics, Chen Yi, Deputy President of School of Management and Engineering, Tian Yu, Party Deputy Secretary of School of Statistics and Zhao Yiqing, assistant to the Dean of School of Accounting made an introduction to basic information of their schools and possible cooperation directions. Jing Meng, Director of International Department in Asia, presented the history of AIT and its international exchange programs. Leaders from School of Management and Engineering, School of Statistics and School of Accounting had in-depth discussions with AIT on student exchange programs and achieved intent of cooperation.

Since 2013, AIT delegation paid 6 visits to CUEB, and we have visited AIT for three times. Currently, AIT has already developed student exchange programs with School of Economics of CUEB. By the end of 2018, 81 students including undergraduates and postgraduates took part in exchange programs for a semester or an academic year.
