President Fu Zhifeng Meets UTS Vice-Chancellor

On October 22nd, CUEB President Fu Zhifeng met with delegation from University of Technology Sydney (UTS) led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Iain Watt in Boyuan Building. The two sides had a discussion on deepening cooperation and communication between the two universities.

Fu Zhifeng extended his warm welcome to Iain Watt. In his introduction to the situation of Overseas Chinese College and College of Business Administration, Fu hoped to facilitate international cooperation with UTS from these two colleges. He noted that UTS had built friendly and cooperative relations with CUEB, and the signed “2+2” Program (a double degree program in CUEB and UTS for two bachelor degrees) had made smooth progress. The two sides were also expected to strengthen cooperation in the areas of talent cultivation, communication and exchanges of teachers,and academic & scientific cooperation.

 

At first, Watt expressed his gratitude to CUEB for its contribution to the cooperation between the two universities. He said that the “2+2” Program signed with Overseas Chinese College had achieved remarkable results and highly praised the efforts of Overseas Chinese College in cultivating students’ language skills. He also pointed out that UTS is one of the largest public universities in Australia with an international vision, outstanding teaching quality and advanced teaching concepts. In addition, he hoped that the two universities could strengthen exchanges and cooperation between teachers to further promote a better teaching team.

 

Then, Chen Honghai, Deputy Dean of Overseas Chinese College, gave a brief report on the “2+2” Program and proposed a new cooperation concept including “3+1+1” Program (3 years of undergraduate study at CUEB, 1 year of graduate study at UTS and then spending 1 year in obtaining a doctorate at UTS), summer school programs for students and Teacher Mutual Visits Program. Wang Kai, Director of the International Exchanges Center of College of Business Administration, introduced the basic situation of the MBA and the ongoing international cooperation programs. Prof. Leona Lam, Associate Dean of the UTS Business School, and Ms. Connie Cui, Director of International Studies, introduced Student Exchange Programs in UTS and expressed strong willingness to cooperate with the College of Business Administration. The two sides will further facilitate “2+2” Program, and discuss MBA Program and “3+1+1” Program, Teacher’s Exchange Program to deepen the cooperation.

 

Xie Haixia, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges Office, presided over the meeting.
