Delegation of Beijing Municipal Education Commission Comes to Investigate and Guide Construction of Ideological and Political Theory Courses

On October 19th, Di Tao, Deputy Decretory of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and his team, came to CEUB to investigate and guide the construction of ideological and political theory courses. Kou Hongjiang, Director of the Department of Education Publicity in Beijing Municipal Education Commission, and Zheng Tianyi, a cadre of the Department of Education Publicity, took part in the investigation. Han Xianzhou, Party Secretary of CUEB, and Xu Fang, Deputy Party Secretary, accompanied the delegation.

At the symposium, Wang Yin, Party Secretary of School of Marxism Studies, introduced the general situation of School of Marxism Studies from the aspects of school orientation, organizational structure, faculty construction, teaching and research work and discipline construction. Next, focusing on the practice and exploration of the construction of ideological and political theory courses in school in recent years, Wang Yin introduced the implementation of policies, system construction, curriculum construction, teacher training and collaborative innovation, especially the measures and practices of new courses under the guidance of Xi Jinping’s thought of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era.

Then, teachers who taught ideological and political theory attended the symposium to deeply discuss and explore problems they encountered in the courses. They showed that in recent years, leaders at all levels had attached great importance to the construction of ideological and political theory courses, which encouraged them a lot as frontline teachers. In the teaching practice of ideological and political courses, everyone will keep in mind General Secretary Xi Jinping’s keynotes in a symposium for teachers of ideological and political theory. That is, “to promote the reform and innovation of ideological and political theory courses, we must continuously emphasize the ideology, theory, affinity and pertinence ”. We shall adhere to the “Eight Unification”, continuously improve the attractiveness and enchantment of teaching content in guiding students to discover, analyze and ponder problems.

Di Tao approved the construction of ideological and political theory courses in CUEB. He believed that in recent years, CUEB has accumulated rich experience in the construction of ideological and political courses. He hoped that the next step will lay on the construction of Beijing’s key School of Marxism and continuously add ideology, theory, affinity and pertinence to the courses to continuously promote the construction of ideological and political courses to a higher level. Di Tao put forward three requirements for the construction of ideological and political courses in CUEB: First, taking the perspective of political standpoint, we must adhere to build and run a socialist university with Chinese characteristics and pay attention to the construction of ideological and political courses. School leaders should take the lead in inspecting in-depth ideological and political teaching check-up and follow-up for students. Second, to foster the course teaching with the development of disciplines, we should advance the reform and innovation of ideological and political courses with research-based teaching, and continuously improve the teaching quality and teaching effect of ideological and political courses. At the same time, we must continue to explore the integrated construction of ideological and political courses in universities, middle schools and primary schools, strive to vitalize the classroom, and better implement the fundamental task to cultivate virtues and morality. Third, to open the compulsory course of “Xi Jinping’s Thoughts on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era”, we should regard it as an important political task, and implement it in terms of a hybrid teaching model by combining online and offline courses together to achieve practical effects.

After the symposium, Di Tao with his team went to classroom 306 of Boxue Building to listen to the course of “Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Legal Basis” lectured by Lian Huan, teacher of the School of Marxism. In the classroom, Lian Huan proposed a series of interrelated questions to guide and help students to deeply understand the scientific connotation of ideal, conviction and belief, and help them to learn how to distinguish the different nature and level of ideal and belief, and make them deeply understand that the establishment of firm ideal and belief will help students grow into talents.

In the class, Di Tao with his team listened carefully and paid attention to students’ reactions to Lian Huan’s lecture. After class, they had in-depth exchanges with Lian Huan on teaching contents, teaching methods, classroom organization and other aspects. While fully affirming Lian Huan’s work ethnic for lesson preparation, good classroom organization ability and solid teaching skills, they also put forward suggestions for further improvement.
