In order to promote research on law issues in capital urban governance, Beijing Law Society established the Research Base on Rule of Law in Capital Urban Governance in School of Law of CUEB. On the afternoon of April 22, the base launching ceremony was held in Tianlang Hall of Boyuan building. Vice President Sun Haozhe attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. The launching ceremony was presided over by Zhang Shijun, President of School of Law.

Sun Haozhe pointed out that the establishment of the first municipal research base in CUEB by Beijing Law Society is not only an approval of our legal education and academic research, but also a big support for our research and the building of think tank. On behalf of CUEB, he expressed gratitude to Beijing Law Society for its full trust in CUEB. He introduced the outstanding achievements in discipline and specialty construction and scientific research made by School of Law in recent years. He said that with the support of Beijing Law Society and the high-end research platform provided by this Base, CUEB shall make greater research achievements in regard with the explanation and promotion of Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law, and with the construction of the “four centers” (namely, Beijing as the National Political Center, Cultural Center, International Communication Center, and Science & Technology Innovation Center) and “two zones” (namely, National Comprehensive Demonstration Zone for Expanding Opening-up in the Service Sector and China (Beijing) Pilot Free Trade Zone), so as to provide greater intellectual support for China’s construction of the rule of law, especially for the capital’s economic and social development.

Xiao Youmao, Secretary of the Party Group and Full-time Vice President of Beijing Law Society, believes that School of Law can do a great job in the construction of the Base with enlightened Party leadership, qualified faculty, and fruitful research. He also expresses expectations on Beijing Law Society and CUEB for future development of the Base: first, concentrate on learning, publicizing and carrying out Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law in the construction of the Base; second, constantly improve the research and construction of the Base by giving full play to the geographical advantages of Beijing as the “the most desirable district” and to the rich legal culture resources; third, focus on and work for the capital’s high-quality development and the construction of “two zones” through the Base as a new research platform, so as to make greater contributions to the economic and social development of Beijing.

In the process of awarding, Xiao Youmao, on behalf of Beijing Law Society, awarded the plaque to CUEB, and Sun Haozhe, on behalf of CUEB, accepted the plaque. It marks the formal establishment of the Research Base on Rule of Law in Capital Urban Governance.

Yao Dongxu, Director of the Scientific Research Department, congratulated on the establishment of the Base in his speech, and said that CUEB will firmly take the economic and social development of the capital as its research mission, and fully support the construction of the Base.

Relevant leaders from Beijing Law Society, Publicity Department of the School Party Committee, School of Law and other units also attended the launching ceremony.
