On June 2, “Cultivating Moral Character and Managing a Family with Integrity: Premier Zhou’s Family Tradition Photo Exhibition” was unveiled at Boyuan Building of CUEB. This Exhibition was sponsored by Party Committee Publicity Department, organized by School of Foreign Studies (SFS) and curated by Enlai Foundation. Zhou Bingde, niece of Premier Zhou Enlai, former vice president of China News Service, and chairman of Enlai Foundation attended the ceremony and jointly unveiled the exhibition with Han Xianzhou, Party Secretary of CUEB. Xu Fang, Vice Secretary of CUEB Party Committee presided over the unveiling ceremony.

Han Xianzhou highlighted the fact that Chairman Mao Zedong, Premier Zhou Enlai and other party and state leaders met teachers and students of Beijing Labor Leadership School, the predecessor of CUEB in Zhongnanhai (the headquarters of China's central government). This is a precious experience in the history of CUEB. Since last year, President Xi has repeatedly emphasized on various occasions to leverage on revolutionary legacy and maintain spirit of the revolutionaries. Family tradition of Premiere Zhou reveals the original aspirations and mission of CPC. This is a precious opportunity for universities to carry forward the traditions from revolutionary times, and integrate them into our higher education system in ways or methods like online and offline education activities in or out of class and campus, so as to foster all-round socialist builders and successors with virtue.

Xu Fang said that revolutionary family tradition was formed and advocated by the elder generation of proletarian revolutionaries, elder CPC members, and veteran cadres. Inheriting revolutionary family tradition can shape conducts of the state, the Party and the family. Premier Zhou is a model of transmitting the spirit of revolutionary family tradition. This year marks the centenary of the CPC. In order to study and implement President Xi’s exposition on the importance of family values, education and tradition and promote the new direction of socialist family civilization, CUEB held this Family Tradition Photo Exhibition so that teachers and students can understand the life of Premier Zhou and maintain revolutionary family tradition and the spirit of revolutionaries.

After the ceremony, Zhou Bingde presented a signed book My Uncle and Anut：Zhou Enlai and Deng Yingchao and Secretary Han Xianzhou accepted the book on behalf of CUEB.

Then, guests visited the main exhibition area located in the middle hall on the 3rd floor of Boyuan Building. The exhibition area is like a time shuttle, unfolding Premier Zhou’s revolutionary experiences vividly. During the exhibition, Zhou Bingde, watching the photos and listening to the explanation carefully, communicated with students, and shared stories when she stayed with her uncle and recalled the strict family rules of the Premier. She said: “My uncle always strictly required relatives and next generation to prioritize national interests and never allowed us to be privileged. Although my uncle did not leave us any physical property, he left us with precious spirit of family tradition, which we will continue to pass on”. After the exhibition, Zhou Bingde gave a highly praise and wore the badge writing “Serving the people” for the student docents.

For this family tradition photo exhibition, more than 100 precious photos about Premier Zhou were presented after a careful selection. They were grouped into three sections, namely, “Combining Love with Strictness”, “Teaching by Personnel Example” and “Model Couples”, fully demonstrating the Premier’s excellent character and sound family tradition. This was also an echo to the call by President Xi to attach highly importance to family tradition and family education”. The exhibition will last until this October. It will serve as precious revolutionary resources for us to learn about CPC history and cultivate Party spirit. Teachers and students can appreciate the spirit and moving stories of Premier Zhou about his self-discipline, regulating the family and serving our country. Therefore, we can carry forward the learning of CPC history by maintaining the sound family tradition to “prioritize the nation and the people”.

Representatives of Enlai Foundation, administrative offices and other departments of CUEB and the representatives of teachers and students of SFS jointly attended the unveiling ceremony.
