On the morning of September 8, as the 38th Teacher’s Day is approaching, Cai Qi, Secretary of Beijing Municipal Party Committee, visited CUEB to extend warm regards to the school staff and inspected the epidemic prevention and control of our school. He extended greetings to all educators across Beijing and emphasized that teachers, as the origin and impetus of education, should study the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s Letter to Students of Beijing Normal University Attending “Outstanding Teachers Program”, and make great efforts to foster virtue through education, impart professional knowledge and resolve doubts, so as to gradually improve the education quality, with careful preparations for epidemic prevention and control as the first lesson, therefore playing our role well to safeguard the healthy growth of our students.

Cai Qi asked about the details of the measures on school epidemic prevention and control, such as the quality of health monitoring, the convenience of the arrangement of nucleic acid testing station, and the needs of the staffs and students. He stressed that we should put safety and heath of teachers and students as our top priority, carefully implement epidemic prevention and control policies and take the initiative to find and solve problems. We should care about our teachers and students and patiently listen to their voices to settle practical difficulties in their study and life. Then he visited the Achievements Exhibition themed with “Practice Original Aspiration in Fostering Virtue and the Duty of Serving the Capital” in the School History Museum. He communicated with teacher representatives of Mega-city Research Institute (A high-level think-tank for the Capital) of CUEB, and required that we should focus on the capital development in the new era and improve the building of excellent teams of teachers, and the think-tank of our school could continue to play its role in making CUEB China’s first-class and worldly-renowned university of finance and economics.

During this inspection, Cai Qi pointed out that we should stick to the direction of socialist schooling, and implement the president responsibility system under the leadership of the Party. We must take the construction of ethos and morals of our teachers as a priority and make sure that our teachers capable to instruct others and serve as an example to all. The mainstays and experienced teachers need to pass on what they have learned through years of teaching, optimizing the job rotation system to help with the growth of our young teachers. Ideological and political education is the key subject in the fundamental task to foster virtues. Hence, we should proceed targeted ideological and political education at every stage and improve the capability of our teachers to cultivate the patriotic spirit and enlighten our students. We need to help our teachers immerse themselves into teaching without any distraction, and provide adequate care about motivation system to teachers.

Cai Qi emphasized that we need to keep it in mind that the school is the key part of epidemic prevention and control and should strengthen relevant measures for students and teachers, such as management before return to school, instruction on the way back to school, strict health monitoring after return to school, and further boosting the response to the outbreak. We should give necessary care and make functional arrangements for campus life for teachers and students, and take immediate actions on receiving any epidemic-related request.

After the inspection, the Standing Committee of School Party Committee called on to study the guiding principles of the important speech delivered by Secretary of Beijing Municipal Party Committee Cai Qi.

Han Xianzhou pointed out that it’s a highly recognition of our work that Secretary of Beijing Municipal Party Committee Cai Qi proceeded inspection on epidemic prevention and control, visited our School History Museum and the Exhibition of Achievements, teachers and students of our school are deeply inspired. What’s more, Cai Qi emphasized our role to serve the development of Beijing in a new era which coincides with the recent work of our school. This is an indication that we are on the right track to implement the spirit of the 13th National Congress of the Party and to carry out the school reform. In the following steps, our school is going to be committed to creating more representative achievements with the focus on the development of Beijing in the new era, and carry out the fundamental task to foster virtues of students, while carefully improving our epidemic prevention and control measures at the same time.
