CUEB Held Opening Ceremony for New CUEBers of Grade 2022
On the morning of September 30, CUEB held online and offline opening ceremony for new comers of Grade 2022. Party Secretary Han Xianzhou, President Fu Zhifeng, Deputy Party Secretary Xu Fang and Wu Hui, member of Party Standing Committee and Vice President Wang Yonggui and Xing Qi, member of Party Standing Committee and Director of United Front Work Division attended the ceremony. Also, the Party Secretaries of related departments, Deans, Deputy Secretaries and representatives of new CUEBers participated in the ceremony at Zhuoyu Auditorium. All counselors, advisers and new CUEBers watched the ceremony online. The ceremony was broadcast live on Xiaoetong app, Tencent Meeting and Weibo, with over 20,000 views. Member of Party standing committee and Vice President Sun Haozhe presided over the ceremony.

On behalf of the university, Fu Zhifeng expressed warming welcome to new CUEBers and his sincere thanks to all teachers and students for following the pandemic prevention and control measures. Fu put forward the following three expectations on the freshmen. Firstly, set high goals and bear the mission in this era, have specific recognitions of who you are, what you should do and how to do, align the small dream of themselves with the big mission for national rejuvenation so as to be a responsible and an aspiring pioneer. Secondly, remember that professional skills come from painstaking efforts, be determined to enrich our knowledge with patience and capabilities, and tackle with problems and difficulties in study, make friends with those with different opinions and exchange for ideas, making teachers and mates true advisers in study. Thirdly, keep both physical and psychological health, be early to bed, frequent to fitness and spend less time on binge-watching but more time on book-reading. Through these, students can brave future challenges with strong body and mentality.
Fu Zhifeng said the year 2022 is a milestone. This year, the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games were successfully held and the 20th CPC National Congress will be convened in October. Fu expected that all new CUEBers could let their dreams take wings and live a wonderful life in CUEB.

On behalf of the teaching staff, Ye Tanglin, professor from the College of Urban Economy and Public Administration, placed four expectations on new CUEBers. First, pursue truth as well as goodness, work hard, keep their feet on the ground, and aim high. Second, study hard, strive to become useful persons, keep integrity in study, observe academic ethics and respect truth and rules. Third, stay true to their original aspirations, dare to innovate and attach importance to interdisciplinarity, so as to contribute to the high-quality development of the capital. Fourth, as young Chinese of the new era, strengthen their sense of responsibility, care about their family and country, have concerns for humanity, be decisive and bold in action, and most importantly, work hard to achieve the goal of national rejuvenation.
Zhang Shuo, a graduate enrolled in 2020 from the School of Labor Economics who had spent six years in CUEB for a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree, made a speech. Zhang shared with all students her experiences of research, work for students and volunteer service. She mentioned that the best thing in the university is that students are free to keep exploring new things. At last, she expected all students to keep their dreams in mind, shoulder their responsibilities, stay true to their original aspiration, pledge to the Party to make our country strong and achieve best results in the process of pursuing their dreams in CUEB.
On behalf of all new CUEBers, Zhang Mingquan, a new undergraduate from the School of Culture and Communication, shared his feelings of becoming a member of CUEB family. He said that he could feel the concern and care of CUEB for all new CUEBers when he was in quarantine on campus. In the future, he will keep the school motto “Advocate Morality, Value Competence, Strategize National Development, and Serve the People” in mind and uphold the “Camel Spirit” of tenaciously shouldering our responsibilities, so as to realize the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Next, school leaders put on the CUEB university badges for the representatives of new CUEBers. These badges were an embodiment of the culture, spirits and values of CUEB. It is hoped that students can understand the core of “Camel Spirit” from these badges, so as to bravely keep their feet on the ground, speak cautiously, work efficiently, strive forward, pledge to the Party to make our country strong and shoulder their historical responsibilities.

At last, school leaders randomly selected 14 lucky ones and presented them gifts of seven colors with best wishes to all new CUEBers.
