On the afternoon of November 17, a symposium for students to study the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress was held in Conference Room 7 of Bona Building. Han Xianzhou, Secretary of the Party Committee of CUEB, attended the symposium and gave advice to representatives from the Graduate Publicity Group in the New Era and the Student’s Publicity Group to study the spirit of the Congress. Sun Haozhe, Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of CUEB, presided over the symposium.

CUEB’s Party Committee attaches high importance to guiding students’ comprehensive development with the new theories of the Party. In accordance with the requirements of studying and implementing the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, we set up the Student’s Publicity Group in addition to Graduate Publicity Group in the New Era. The Party Committee integrates the implementation of the spirit into students’ growth, endeavoring to serve youths wholeheartedly as their confidant and their guide.

Han gave high praise to the work of two publicity groups in the first stage and to students’ extracurricular study to fulfill the spirit of the Congress. Then, Han proposed some specific requirements for the following publicity activities. He highlighted that the best way to learn theory is “to learn the theory by heart” by following the reading process of cognition, comprehension, and practice. In the cognition stage, we should read the original articles frequently and finally understand the meaning. In the comprehension stage, we should develop a deeper and deeper understanding of the Party’s spirit. And in the practice stage, we should bear the spirit in mind and apply it in our daily life.

In accordance to General Secretary Xi Jinping’s remarks in his visit to RUC (Renmin University of China), Han gave some advice to the Publicity Group. First, we should comprehensively and accurately understand the significance of the new era. Before we study and publicize the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, we should fully understand that the policies established by the 20th CPC National Congress are closely connected to individual development. Second, we should make everyone understand the spirit in a more targeted and precise manner. We, as students in capital universities, have experienced major events of the Party and the country. Therefore, in vivid practice and international comparison, we should tell China’s stories in lively ways to manifest the remarkable strength of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Third, we should integrate the learning of theory into social practice, as the ultimate goal is practice in the guidance of theory. We should constantly keep the domestic and international interests (which is a strategy of national rejuvenation amid global changes of a magnitude not seen in a century) in mind, seize opportunities in the new era and strive for a gorgeous chapter.

Sun stressed that our primary political task is to study, publicize and implement the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress. We should improve our political stance to fully understand the importance of the Congress. We should learn the Party’s spirit in a systematic, profound and practical manner. Also, our publicity group needs to grasp the key points, choose the main topics to roll out well-prepared lessons in a bid to ensure high efficiency, a sound working atmosphere and fruitful achievements.

Secretary of CUEB Youth League Committee Li Xiaoou and Vice Minister of the Party Committee Graduate Affairs Department Cai Bin introduced the situation of the two publicity groups respectively. They hoped that students could comprehend and publicize the Party’s spirit in the process of learning and ensure various publicity activities available to most students both online and offline, so as to make the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress deeply rooted in everyone’s heart.

During the meeting, representatives of the publicity group Li Danfeng, a graduate student of School of Accounting, Liang Min, a graduate student of School of Foreign Studies, Wang Xinxin, an undergraduate student of School of Accounting and Huang Sijia, an undergraduate student of School of Accounting, shared their feelings and gains in learning and practicing the spirits of the Congress.

As reported, the publicity group of graduate students consists of 37 members, including 5 core members and 14 experienced narrators. Since its establishment in May 2021, more than 40 lectures have been held. On November 10, 2022, the publicity group for studying the spirit of the Party’s 20th National Congress was founded, including 43 members who stand as excellent student Party members, students of the school’s “Qingma Class” (the class for youth Marxists and student cadres) and some student cadres. Going ahead, the school will rely on the two publicity groups in conveying the spirit of the Party’s 20th National Congress in a down-to-earth language, making sure the core spirit is understandable and practicable to our students. On top of that, we shall be committed to implementing the action plan of “Broader Ideological and Political Education in Beijing”, carrying out the spirit of the Party’s 20th National Congress in concerted actions.
