Recently, Wang Wenju, the new Party Secretary of CUEB and Wu Weixing, the new Deputy Party Secretary and President of CUEB held special survey meetings to pursue an in-depth, substantive theme education of “Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era (the Thought)” for high-quality development of CUEB. Attendees included Xu Fang, Deputy Party Secretary, Meng Bo, new Deputy Party Secretary, Li Xiaomu, Vice President, and Mao Baizhan, Member of the Standing Committee of CUEB Party Committee and Secretary of Discipline Inspection Commission (DIC).

On the morning of June 1, officials from Party Committee Publicity Department, Party Committee Security Department, Network Information Center and others reported their work on publicizing ideology and security. Wang and Wu emphasized that they should work hard to identify and tackle fire hazards in workplace safety and enhance our awareness to ensure campus security.

On the afternoon of June 1, officials from the Student Affairs Department of the Party Committee, the Graduate Affairs Department of the Party Committee, the Youth League Committee and others reported their work on student affairs and employment. Wang and Wu stressed the significane to carry out the “head project”. That is,  Party secretaries (including presidents and college deans) in colleges and universities are supposed to visit at least 100 employment units in total for high-quality employment. What’s more, great efforts should be made to strengthen students’ ideology, and improve the quality of personnel cultivation from aspects of mental health, academic awards, financial assistance, physical and aesthetic education, research innovation, etc.

On the morning of June 2, officials from DIC, Office of Party and Governance Affairs, Party Committee Organization Department, and Party Committee Publicity Department reported their work on theme education and preparation for the 5th Party Congress of CUEB. They discussed the priority and difficulties of their work. Wang and Wu put forward that to meet the overall requirement of learning the Thought, strengthening Party consciousness, emphasizing practice, and making new achievements, they need to conduct in-depth research to solve current problems and evaluate the effect of theme education based on achievements of high-quality development. Greater progress is expected for in terms of drafting reports, selecting representatives, nominating members, as well as in other kinds of work. In the coming Congress, they should take this opportunity to review achievements in recent years and make well-conceived plans for future development by rallying wisdom from all staff and students. 

Forging ahead with theme education, CUEB leadership shall work harder to learn theories, conduct research, put forward practical measures to advance the development of CUEB into Beijing Municipal high-level research university and China’s first-class and internationally-renowned university of finance and economics. Only in this way can we put the Thought into practice.
