On September 13, the Summit Forum on the Development and Application of Finance and Economics Corpus was held atCUEB. Hosted bythe School of Foreign Studies and co-organized by Institute of Corpus Studies and Applications, Shanghai International Studies University (ICSA, SISU), the forum brought together scholars from five fields—linguistics, translation studies, country and region studies, international economics and trade, and artificial intelligence, making it thefirst nationwide high-level academic exchange and collaborative innovation platform focused on the finance and economics corpus.

At the forum, the “Joint Research Center for the Development and Application of Finance and Economics Corpus” was officially unveiled,including the signing of university-enterprise strategic cooperation agreements, the unveiling of practice bases, and the launch of key research projects. This marks the opening of a new collaborative innovation landscape in finance and economics foreign language corpus research, digital and intelligent translation applications, and international economic and trade discourse development.

Before the forum, Liu Ying, Secretary of CUEB Party Committee, met with Huang Lezhen, Deputy Chief Editor of China Food News. She noted that in the face of opportunities and challenges brought by digital and intelligent technological transformation, and the missions and tasks set forth by national and capital development, CUEB is continuing to strengthen its “four major discipline clusters” of economics, management, science and engineering with interdisciplinary studies, and humanities and law. The finance and economics corpus serve as “infrastructure” for interdisciplinary development. The university takes this forum as an opportunity to work with all parties to build a high-level collaborative innovation platform, promote the deep integration of foreign language disciplines and the national digital economy and international communication strategies, and contribute to cultivating high-quality foreign language personnel for financial and economic affairs.

Vice President Yin Zhichao attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. He stated that against the backdrop of the rapid development of the digital economy and artificial intelligence, advancing the building of the financial and economic corpus and further strengthening the development of multilingual data resources are key measures for foreign language disciplines to serve national strategies, meet industry needs, and achieve distinctive transformation. The opening ceremony was presided over by Liu Chongxiao, Dean of the School of Foreign Studies.

At the forum, CUEB signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with China Food News, unveiled the Practice Base of the International Communication Center of China Food News, andlaunched the research project on the International Communication of Chinese Food Brands.

During the four keynote report sessions, Professor Hu Kaibao from SISU, Professor Liang Maocheng from Beihang University (BUAA), Professor Qin Hongwu from Qufu Normal University (QFNU), and Professor Zhang Wei from Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) delivered reports on digital and intelligent corpus, intelligent translation, AI-powered foreign language education, and international communication of finance and economics. They shared research progress and practical insights into issues such as multilingual economic and trade corpus development, intelligent translation technology, the transformation of foreign language teachers’roles, and process-oriented teaching evaluation.

Relevant officials from China Food News, National Institute of Advertising (NIA) and CUEB attended the forum.
